INGREDIENTS
2 cups of Baraka Rice Basmati
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 red onions, sliced
300gm diced beef
3 large potatoes, cubed
4 cloves of garlic, minced
3 tablespoons of our freshly made pilau masala
Salt to taste
METHOD
1. In a suitable pot over medium heat, cook the onion and garlic until golden.
2. Add the meat and cook until it’s almost ready while the pot is covered. If the meat is already tender, it should only take a few minutes, but if not, continue cooking it for a few more minutes, adding a little water to simmer it.
3. When the meat has dried out, add the pilau masala powder, and salt, and stir quickly. Let the masala cook for about a minute.
4. Add Baraka Rice Basmati and stir and ensure it’s all mixed up.
5. Add 3 cups of hot water, cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and allow to simmer while covered.
6. Give the rice a stir to make sure the meat is mixed into it after around 7 minutes of cooking, then cover. Repeat this while the rice is still wet.
7. Allow the rice to dry cook for some minutes, as you prepare some kachumbari to go with it or your preferred salad.
